REGION: Alto Adige DOC – Trentino Alto Adige
GRAPES: 100% Lagrein
SOIL TYPE: Limestone and porphyry deposits in aluminum
WINEMAKING: Lagrein is the indigenous grape variety of Südtirol. The Lagrein vine prefers heat, sun and loves rubble. This means that they thrive best on the valley floor, near rivers. Near Bolzano, where this Lagrein Rieder comes from, there are therefore the best areas of the region. Harvested by hand, must remains in constant contact with the skins for 2 weeks, alcoholic fermentation in steel, aging on the noble lees for 6 months.
TASTING NOTES: Intense garnet red color, typical scent of violet, berries, coffee and chocolate and a particularly full-bodied and velvety palate.
FOOD PAIRINGS: It goes well with both cheeses and roasted or grilled beef, lamb and game.
