REGION: Alto Adige DOC – Trentino Alto Adige
GRAPES: 100% Pinot Nero
SOIL TYPE: Clayey soils with variable lime and porphyry content
WINEMAKING: Glen is the historically most important location for Castelfeder, which extends from 450 to 790 m above sea level, directly above Mazon. Thanks to its south-west orientation, Glen is blessed with the highest solar radiation compared to all three locations. However, the climate is much cooler due to the extreme altitude and therefore creates the best conditions for growing special pinot. The image on the label demonstrates the Gleno bridge of the old Val di Fiemme railway, which has always been a symbol of this area and offers spectacular views of Bolzano and the Bassa Atesina, which represents 85% of the wine production in Alto Adige.
TASTING NOTES: The ruby red and garnet nuances of this Pinot amiably go hand in hand with its delicate aroma, with a hint of blackberry and cherry, but with pleasant vanilla impressions conferred by aging in barrique. In the mouth it is balanced, soft and full, expressing all the energy and robustness of this grape variety.
FOOD PAIRINGS: It pairs well with Lamb meat, semi hard cheeses and roasts. Is great with Truffle and spicy Asian food.
